Recently the US witnessed riots in many towns and cities including Ferguson and Baltimore. These riots resulted in several vehicles being damaged, buildings torched, businesses looted and a lockdown of the area including curfews.
Property damage ran into millions of dollars and the loss of business was also of the same magnitude. Several of the businesses that were effected were small businesses. While some took preventive measures such as boarding up or moving merchandize out, many did not and were at the mercy of the rioters.
Many of the looted businesses will shutter their doors never to open again. Burnt dreams, ruined finances, emotional turmoil are the legacy left behind by senseless acts by rioters.
